The Chene Street Story by Helen Kraft
Chene Street ran through the center of Detroit's Poletown, the home of many Polish immigrants. Mrs. Kraft compiled a comprehensive list of establishments that made Chene Street one of the most prosperous retail business districts in the country. She also interviewed many residents and retold their dramatic stories. With her guidance, J. William Gorski took hundreds of photographs of the remaining buildings of historical and architectural importance, several of which are included in this book. To make this valuable reference available to researchers and genealogists, Gorski enlisted Arthur and Magdalene Wagner to digitize and edit the manuscript. A year and a half of diligent effort led to the publication of the book. (Price includes shipping and handling.)
