St. Albertus Catholic Church
Established 1872           St. Aubin and Canfield
St. Albertus is the Mother Church of all Polish parishes in Detroit.  The first Poles to be registered as permanent citizens were from the partion of Poland under Prussian rule, particularly Pozan and Kashuby. From the ranks of the St. Stanislaus Kostka Society 70 members, under the direction of Fr. Szymon Wieczorek from St. Marys in Parisville of Huron County, formed the parish of St. Albertus in 1872.  The original church was replaced & consecrated on July 4, 1885 during the pastorate of Fr. Dominic Kolasinski fresh from Krakow.  Seating capacity is 2500 people.

The church was closed in 1990 but has a loyal following and usually one or two  masses every month and many social events.  See the web site fo schedule.
